We all want our lives to be simpler. These days, our portable devices should be helping us with our daily tasks and assisting us with things that stress us out. We have all read the “top 10″ lists for different kinds of apps and games, but what if you just want to know about some simple things that your Android device can do to make your life easier? Never fear, this list of apps will help you relax and make it through your day.
1. Executive Assistant
The best way to stay organized is to have all of your information in one place, and Executive Assistant tries to do just that. Quickly review your schedule, email, messages, tasks, call status, twitter, Facebook updates and more all on one screen. You can even set this app to be your lock screen widget or home screen widget so that you have instant access to what is going on.
2. Toggl Timer
Do you ever wonder where all of your time goes? Keep track of your activities and work tasks with the Toggle Timer app. This handy tool will help you keep track of tasks and how much time you spent on them so you can bill accordingly or just see what you have been spending the largest amount of time on. It has some great features such as reporting, allowing you to mark if a task is billable or not and breaking multiple tasks down under one project heading for greater organization. Just start the timer for your activity and all of the data will be synced with the web application.
3. Read It Later
One of the big problems that we currently have is the barrage of information coming in and the amount of things we subscribe to. With Read It Later, you will be able to put aside all of the distractions that come in during the day and look over them at your leisure. Saved articles come in for offline reading with their images intact or they are linked if you would like to read them in their original location. The reading list is synced so you will always have an up-to-date reading list, no matter where you are.
Dropbox is a cloud-based file storage that allows you to share and sync documents between multiple computers (and mobile devices) as well as share files and folders to colleagues. Anywhere that you have an internet connection, you will be able to access your files.
5. Documents To Go
Have you ever gotten to a meeting and realized you didn’t bring that important document? Don’t worry! Documents to Go allows you to work with all types of documents, even Microsoft Office. The free version will let you view and the premium version will even let you edit. Never be away from your important files again.
Taskos is a powerful task and list making app that has tons of great features to keep you organized and prepared. You can add items to your todo list by typing them in or by dictating them with the voice recognition feature. This app also connects with your address book and allows you to add notes with contact names and even call people from inside the app. Taskos will also sync with Google Tasks which makes it easy to add or edit your todo list, no matter where you are.
Evernote, the popular universal note-taking application is available on your Android devices. You can create text notes, image notes (from camera or found images) and all notes are able to be tagged for easy storage. All text is scanned by the OCR software so that it becomes searchable text inside of your notes. Notes are stored in the cloud so if you are using Evernote in multiple locations, your notes will always be synced and up-to-date. You can categorize notes or put them in folders to help organize or even create whole notebooks full of notes about a particular project.
8. PageOnce Travel
For those of us that have to travel a lot, it can become confusing what we are supposed to do or where we are going. In a sea of details, you can forget your car rental company or not realize our flight has been changed. With the PageOnce Travel app you will be able to store all of your travel itineraries, hotel, car, weather and other information. The app will inform you of flight changes and serious weather patterns that may affect your route. It’s simple interface makes this a must for people on the go.
9. Search For Flights
Often, we have to fly and the unlucky few of you, have to fly a lot. With the Google Flight Search app you can find flights quickly by searching for destinations or locating them on the map. Real time ticket prices are given for various destinations and you can filter by price, airline or duration. The calendar feature will help you find the best price if your dates are flexible.
10. Track Your Packages
FedEx Mobile for Android can track your incoming and outgoing packages on FedEx and show you where they are in their progress. This is especially handy if you do a lot of shipping or have a FedEx account, since you can name shipments or create watch lists for important items. This app also provides links directly to helpful features on the site such as rate quotes, creation of shipping labels, location of the nearest FedEx and access to your FedEx address book. It’s like have a tiny FedEx center in your pocket.
No matter who you work for or where you are going, you will most likely find an app on this list that can make your life easier and take away some of the stress.
